Q. Any nicknames you care to own up to and their meanings?
A. Many years ago, I worked with a touring theatre/music co that lived on a coach on a farm in Suffolk. These days people use "JR" for obvious reasons.

Q. What were you like at school?
A. Not brilliant! I didn't really enjoy the experience. In those days they streamed you into either practical or academic subjects. They put me in a stream studying building technology, plumbing, tech drawing and that kind of thing. What I wanted to do was music. I did do A level RE for one year. Out of a group of 15 that started, when I returned for the second year, everyone else had dropped out and the school wouldn't spend the time tutoring one student in the subject, telling me that if I wanted to continue it would have to be in the break and lunchtimes. I left shortly afterwards and went to Germany with a touring band!

Thinking we were gonna die and then turning around to find the rest of the band had left the stage leaving me facing 30,000 Van Halen fans on my own. "Err, I think it was time I was leaving."
